Lil' Lambs Closet

Preparing Acceptable Items

The Lil' Lambs Consignment Sale accepts children's clothing, shoes, bedding, furniture, nursery supplies, equipment such as strollers/cribs/ walkers/ car seats/ etc. and just about everything related to children(be sure to refer to the sale dates below for specifics).
We want to have the best quality items for our shoppers. Therefore, items must be in excellent condition with no damage such as tears, holes, missing buttons, broken zippers, or stains. Please be prepared, because items in poor condition or not following the guidelines will be returned to you at check in.
Please take the time to review this information carefully, even if you've consigned with us before as some guidelines have changed.
This will save you time and ensure you make the most of your sales.
Pay careful attention to the acceptable items categories when working with your inventory.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING SURE YOUR ITEMS ARE NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. ANY ITEMS ON THE RECALL LIST WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE SALE FLOOR.

A good site for checking your items on the recall list is http://www.usa.safekids.org/tier2_rl.cfm?folder_id=302

Preparing Your Items for Sale:

Things you will need to have ready:

Computer with Internet Access
(Make sure you DO NOT have any NETGEAR router or equipment connected at the time of working on inventory or printing tags. Unplug them prior to working on this as there is a bug in NETGEAR that interferes with the My Sale Manager Software)
Hangers

Plastic bags (Various Sizes even the XXL ones)
Scotch Tape or Packing Tape

WHITE Cardstock to Print Tags
Ink for your printer

All consigned items must be clean, pleasant smelling and in WORKING order with batteries!
To keep our reputation of high quality items, we depend on
the seller to screen their items. Take a little more time cleaning items and you can probably ask more for them.
Make your items look brand new.
Package similar items together for quicker sale.

Sellers tag and price all of their own items.
Instructions on how to tag items are given below.
We appreciate your attention to details as you prepare your items
to help our sale be uniform and run smoothly!
The computer system has a dropdown menu to help you with categories.
**Any tags that are done incorrectly will not be accepted and the item will be denied for the sale.
All items must be entered into the system and tags printed by 10 p.m. on August 10th!

Important

Have fun entering your inventory (this can be done at your convenience - it does not have to all be done at one time), but be sure to note that all items must be entered into the system and tags printed
by 10 p.m. on August 10th.
This means no substitutions after that time!

ALL CLOTHING-including costumes- MUST BE HUNG CORRECTLY ON HANGERS
LLC does not provide hangers. Many stores will let you have hangers if you ask. When picking a hanger to use, make sure it is the correct size for the item. Please DO NOT use baby hangers on larger size clothing. It causes great frustration when it continually falls off. Our racks are usually very full. Proper size hangers can make the difference for your items selling. When hanging an item, the open part of the hanger should be to the left to resemble a question mark(see photos below). Pants should be hung so the buyer sees the full view of the pants. Do not fold pants over the crossbar. Instead pin pants to the hanger where the sholders of a shirt would be. DO NOT pin to the crossbar as the pants or skirt will just fall to one side. This causes poor presentation and tags tend to fall off(See photos below). Outfits can be hung together by rubberbanding up to 2 hangers together or pinning the other parts together(See photos below). Remember to consider the presentation. After you hang an item, shake the hanger to make sure nothing falls off, or hangs in a funny way. The more the buyer sees, the better it sells.
Undershirt Onesies DO NOT get hung. They need to be bagged.

Shoes and items with multiple parts must be in ziplock bags(make sure they are the correct size bags for the item).

To insure all parts are together, please bag all items unless they are oversized or clothing on hangers. This also helps the tag stay with the item.  Ziploc makes super size bags now that are very easy to use for the big items. (These only come in blue and are acceptable) Please tape your tag to the inside of bags to help insure they are not lost. Make sure the tag is taped flat or we cannot scan it at the checkout. Packing tape works well to keep tags flat and secure to the bags. Seal zip lock bags shut. DO NOT TAPE BAGS SHUT. We need to be able to take the item out during check-in. Taped bags will be denied. If your bag needs taped AFTER check-in, we will do that part for you.  We want to make sure little hands do not get inside the zipper bags and take out items. Items in bags have a better chance of not losing parts which makes everyone happier in the end. Include in your description of the item that there is a bag of parts if taping accessories to a bigger item. You might want to include a handwritten note in the accessory bag that states the item number and seller. Do not put a price on the handwritten note.
Items that MUST be in bags: Baby Equipment,Bath,Bedding, Books, Cassettes, CDs, Accessories for Costumes(then attached to the hanger), DVDs, Hair Accessories, Boy and Girl Accessories, Infant Feeding, Mittens/Gloves, Mobiles, Moniters, Room Decorations, Shoes, Videos

Large Items/Furniture/Cribs, etc
Please be prepared to set your large items up once you come to drop off. Cribs need to be assembled. Make sure you have the necessary tools to do this as we do not have those available

Other Important Tagging Information

Please make sure that items are tagged securely. Remember-we are not responsible for unsold goods due to lost tags.  Neither Lil'Lambs Closet nor COTL UMC will be responsible for losses or damages. Price competitively-would you pay that amount for the item? A good rule of thumb is 1/3 of the new price for best condition, 1/4 of the new price for fair condition. Price items using whole OR half dollar increments ($1.00 or $1.50)

Tag Information

The link to enter your items is very user friendly.
However, if you have questions, please Email us and
one of our chairwomen will contact you within 48 hours.

Important

In this computer system, you can start and stop entering your items as much as you like. In order to get back to your inventory you will simply need to log onto the website with your consigner number and password. PLEASE NOTE: All items must be entered into the system and tags printed by 10 p.m. on August 10th. You can make no changes to pricing or items after this time. We require using White cardstock paper for your pinned tags.  This cuts down on lost tags, they don't tear as easily, and ultimately means more money for you!!! If the tag is lost your item won't be sold unless we are able to reunite the tag and the item!! Colored cardstock will NOT be accepted as it does not scan well.(You can find this at Wal-mart or an office supply store in the copy paper section.)

Here is what your tag should look like:

  • The word "Donate" means donate. Absence of that word indicates No Donate.
  • The word "No Discount" means the item should not be discounted. Absence of this phrase indicates the consignor wishes to discount the item. The letter printed under the price has no significance. It is used by some sales as a sorting system at the conclusion of the sale. We do not use that system. Do not worry about this letter.

DOUBLE CHECK EVERY TAG TO MAKE SURE IT HAS THE CORRECT INFORMATION! We highly recommend printing one tag first to make sure all information is printing correctly. Make sure your barcode is printed clearly. New ink cartridges make the barcode smudge and then they do not scan. Faded barcodes do not scan well either. Testing one tag will help avoid these problems. Also make sure 10 tags are printing to your page. Do not reduce the size of the tags. Tags that are not the proper size or format(using an old tag) will not be accepted.

We do inspect all items at drop-off. We reserve the right to refuse any item due to being outdated, broken, unclean, stained or ripped. Buyers and sellers appreciate strict high standards.
